"... Tread & Thread on Bedford Square such a success and so much fun! The organisational side of it was the big one with 100 children on the square and everyone worked together so well that it was seamless! The star's were of course the children totally tuned into the event, with impeccable behaviour, and with their fantastic dancing they created such a wonderful atsmosphere, this also drew lots of family, friends and people stopping to watch to down shopping bags and join in! The team and myself so proud of their achievements. In total over 200 people danced on the square that day! Allowing people of all ages and ability to access dance in this way can lead to amazing results, very much experienced last week." Rosie Allen- Perdikeas, Youth Dance Champion ( West Devon)

Gulworthy Primary School, West Devon recently received funding from Sports Unlimited through West Devon Borough Council working in partnership with Youth Dance Champion West Devon Rosie Allen-Perdikeas and Sue Breed, teacher from Gulworthy Primary School to run a Break Dance After School Club through the spring term. Participants aged from 7-11yrs have received eight break dance sessions delivered by professional dance artist Paul Bennellick. Feedback has been fantastic with many of the children learning to dance for the very first time. Melody Nicholls Head Teacher commented ‘This dance club has provided the children with something really different and hugely enjoyable to do, it has been a great opportunity for a small rural school to receive such excellent professional dance input.’
An end of term Break Dance platform will be held Wednesday April 6th at 4.00pm at Gulworthy Village Hall for family and friends to see what the children have learnt. The event is U.Dance registered a Youth Dance England initiative and all the participants will receive a certificate of achievement and badges.
Further funding from Sports Unlimited has also been secured with three more break dance projects currently running in Bere Alston Youth Club, Tavistock Youth Cafe and Princetown Youth Club.
