Volunteering

"Volunteering with Dance in Devon has enabled me to meet a fantastic selection of people involving themselves with youth dance. I am very keen to get involved with such work and I was able to talk, learn and gain some great advice from people able and willing to give me their time. It was really valuable to gain some first hand experience in the 'big wide world' and the things that the youth dance world can offer" Olivia Khan-Davis, Dance in Devon Volunteer

Dance in Devon / Daisi Volunteer Bank
Do you know anyone who is interested in getting involved with dance and/or youth arts activities taking place in your area? Dance in Devon and Daisi are looking for people who would like to support a range of dance and arts projects through the year in any number of volunteer roles.

Volunteers would be part of a volunteer bank which would be available to support Dance in Devon and Daisi in a wide variety of opportunities, from taking photos at events to writing reviews for theatre or dance performances. If you would like to find out more, please contact Katherine Ford on katherine@danceindevon.org.uk or call 01392 667050.

As a volunteer you will:

Gain invaluable experience working alongside established dance professionals including dance managers, practitioners and choreographers.

  • Have the opportunity to develop specific non-performance skills such as event management, photography and dance journalism.
  • Form partnerships, collaborations and long standing relationships within a community of peers.
  • Receive guidance and on-going support throughout your own professional development

Interested?

If you are interested in any of the volunteer opportunities available, or if you have particular skills which Dance in Devon or Daisi may be able to utilise please contact katherine@danceindevon.org.uk for a registration form.

What happens next?

Once you return the form, you will be matched with a suitable role.  You will then be contacted to come in for a short, informal interview and you will be given an induction and copy of the Volunteer handbook.

What we require:

As a volunteer, you will be representing the organisation and will therefore need to be reliable, responsible and an advocate for Dance in Devon at all times.  You will need to provide one reference and your placement may be subject to a Criminal Records Bureau check.

What you get:

  • Reimbursement of travel expenses
  • Access to special events, workshops and lectures throughout the year
  • The chance to evaluate the experience, feed back to Dance in Devon and develop the Volunteer programme
