What will I be doing on the course/training?
The aim of the Dance Foundation Degree is to equip students with the confidence and range of skills and knowledge required to progress in to the professional dance world or the third year of a BA (hons) Dance degree. This exciting course is firmly embedded in current dance practice, and will challenge and push you, both in terms of your technical and creative development. Most importantly, it will give you a thorough understanding and practical experience of working in today’s dance industry, particularly within a community context.
Through modules such as Arts Management, Teaching and Delivering Workshops, and Dance in a Community Context, you will explore and gain an insight into the range of employment opportunities available to the professional dance practitioner; and ultimately equip you with the skills to work professionally in the dance field.

• Performance Project in a Community Setting
• History of Dance: Early Modern and Post Modern
• Work-Based Learning in the Community
Year 2
• Advanced Movement Skills: technique, choreography and anatomy awareness
• Arts Management: managing and promoting yourself in the dance industry

• Performance Project in a Theatre Setting
• Aesthetics and Performance Criticism

What are the entry requirements?
160 UCAS points or relevant dance experience.
What can I do after this course/training?
You will have the skills to apply for further training or professional opportunities in dance performance, choreography, community dance and teaching. You may also opt to take a third year, either at the University of Plymouth (or other HE institutions) where you can obtain an Honours Degree.
