Callout for new work- Gaining Ground 2011
The Burrell Theatre Truro and The Works Dance and Theatre Cornwall are teaming up to present an exciting evening of fresh new dance work from emerging artists based in the Southwest. This is an opportunity for up and coming dance-makers to showcase their work to new audiences, and for audiences in Cornwall to see the latest work from emerging artists in the Southwest.
Applications are now open for companies to be a part of this event. Emerging companies/artists are invited to apply to be selected to present their work at the Burrell Theatre Truro, Cornwall on Wednesday 5th October 2011.
We are looking for:
- Pieces made by choreographers who are based in the Southwest and have been working professionally for 5 years or less, or are new dance-makers
- Work that is innovative, contemporary and varied (could be dance theatre, pure dance, experimental dance-based etc.)
- Work that features live dance (as opposed to Dance for Screen work)
- Work that is in a late stage of development or ‘audience ready’
- New work, made within the last year
- Pieces of minimum 15 minutes maximum 30 minutes in length
- Work that has simple technical requirements (projection possible but must be simple)
Each company will receive:
- A technical rehearsal and performance slot on Wednesday 5th October 2011
- Technical, box office, front of house and marketing support
- A share of the box office takings
- Opportunity for audience discussion and feedback
- Opportunity for networking with other artists
- A DVD copy of the event
- Feedback on your work from a panel of arts professionals
